Once your chicks have “fluffed up” in the incubator, they are ready to be placed in a brooder. You can buy a brooder or make one yourself with minimal supplies.
You Will Need
A large storage bucket
Food
Water
Food container
Water container
Bedding
Heat lamp and lightbulb
Drawer liners
Thermometer
Setting Up Your Brooder
Cut the drawer liner to fit the bottom of the bucket
Sprinkle bedding on top of the liner until the liner can no longer be seen
Fill the food and water containers. Place them in the bottom of the bucket.
Securely attach the heat lamp to the side of the bucket. Check that it is working and producing enough heat.
Place the thermometer under the heat lamp. The goal is to have the warmest area at about 95 degrees fahrenheit.
